Wall Street 101 is a fun and interactive opportunity for rising high school seniors to learn about the financial industry and other business fields, from NASDAQ to IPO to Dow Jones. Through classroom participation and hands-on exercises, you will explore the stock market and discover the process of investment. You will experience the excitement and challenges of working in a real trading room environment, and conduct simulated trading sessions. Wall Street 101 also includes trips to Boston investment firms and other area attractions. Check out a sample of the schedule.
Wall Street 101 is held at the Bentley University campus. You will get a taste of college life by living on campus for the duration of the week. Because the program is residential, you must not make any commitments that would necessitate leaving campus during the week if you are accepted to the program.
During Wall Street 101, you will attend college-level lectures and receive a broad overview of the classroom environment in Bentley University's advanced Smith Technology Center. In addition, you also are provided with a workshop on the college admission process and the opportunity to have your questions answered by a college adviser.
You will work in small teams to utilize the financial technology of the Bentley Trading Room to construct a diversified portfolio of equity securities. Each team member will be responsible for analyzing different sectors of the market. With the help of a group leader, you and your team will develop a formal presentation that explains the reasons for your selection, including a detailed financial analysis of at least one company in your portfolio. Your presentation will be shared with your parents and members of the Bentley community on the final day of camp.
High school students who complete their junior year by June 2012 may apply to the Wall Street 101 program. Admission is competitive. Students are selected based on academic achievement and business interest.
Selected students will be notified no later than May 1.
